2019’s Top 10 running backs and where they’re headed

LSU and Penn State reloaded impressive backfields in a big way on Wednesday during the Early Signing Period as the elite programs combined to land four of the nation’s Top 10 highest-rated running backs in the 2019 cycle, according to the industry-generated 247Sports Composite.

Alabama made arguably the biggest splash, welcoming Trey Sanders — the nation’s top-ranked ballcarrier and No. 5 player overall — to Tuscaloosa after winning a down-to-the-wire battle with Georgia.

The SEC’s wealth of backfield talent acquired this week looks a little different than the league’s situation at quarterback during a cycle that wasn’t necessarily dominated by college football’s long-standing superpower in recruiting.
