Penn State took down Wisconsin on Saturday, earning its seventh win of the season. As a result, bowl projections for the Nittany Lions are looking better.
Penn State, despite still being in fourth place in the Big Ten East, is slotted by two ESPN analysts to play in a New Year’s Six game this year. The Nittany Lions are projected by both Mitch Sherman and Kyle Bonagura to wind up in the PlayStation Fiesta Bowl.
Bongaura thinks that Penn State will get West Virginia. Sherman thinks it’ll be UCF. Both would be tough opponents – especially considering both are still in the hunt for the College Football Playoff right now.
The PlayStation Fiesta Bowl takes place at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona on New Year’s Day.
According to @mitchsherman & @BonaguraESPN #PennState is back in the New Year’s Six discussion after a win vs. Wisconsin. Projected to the @Fiesta_Bowl for the 2nd straight season. #CFB

It’s been a frustrating year for Penn State fans, considering the team lost to Ohio State, Michigan State and Michigan. That said, assuming they win their final two games, they’ll have a shot at a 10-win season in whichever bowl game they wind up in.
Penn State’s final two games come against Rutgers and Maryland.
