Christian Hackenberg Speaks About Next Step In Football Career

Even though Christian Hackenberg never found his footing in the NFL, the former Penn State quarterback has another opportunity to prove himself.

The Alliance of American Football is set to begin one week after the Super Bowl, and Hackenberg has signed with this upstart league. Unlike his stints with the New York Jets or Oakland Raiders, the former second-round pick will have the chance to compete for a starting job.

He is currently a member of the Memphis Express, as the roster also features Zach Mettenberger.

Playing time isn’t necessarily guaranteed for Hackenberg, but he’s still confident in his ability on the gridiron.

From The Commercial Appeal:

“I’ve been through a lot with regards to the NFL in three years, and that experience has kind of given me the desire to get back and play again,” he said. “I haven’t really had an opportunity to play at that level, for whatever reason. (But) I know what I can do as a player. I just haven’t really had the opportunity to show it.”

Hackenberg hasn’t played in a regular season contest since his days with the Nittany Lions.

Nonetheless, the 23-year-old quarterback is ready to show the football world that he is capable of leading an offense.
