ESPN’s Football Power Index predicts bowl game winners

Who’s ready for the start of college football’s best time of the year?

Bowl season kicks off Saturday with a 2.5-week stretch that’ll include dozens of matchups to end the season leading up to New Year’s Six bouts. And ESPN’s simulation model, the Football Power Index, already has an idea of which teams will come out victorious.

ESPN’s FPI is a measure of team strength that is meant to be the best predictor of a team’s performance going forward for the rest of the season. FPI represents how many points above or below average a team is. Projected results are based on 10,000 simulations of the rest of the season using FPI, results to date, and the remaining schedule. Ratings and projections update daily.

Highlighting most of the biggest bowl matchups after Christmas, here’s who the FPI is picking to win:
