With National Signing Day behind us and the class of 2019 officially set, the staff is now completely focused on building up the next few classes. A “quiet period” is in effect for college coaches through April 14, meaning coaches can only have face-to-face interactions with recruits. Coaches cannot attend camps or visit a prospect’s high school, but they can talk on the phone, and recruits can visit campus. With all that being said, let’s get you up to speed on the latest crootin’ news.
2020 wide receiver Jalen Coit picked up a Penn State offer this week. A three-star prospect according to 247Sports, Coit is a bit undersized at 5’10/163 but has the speed and playmaking ability to be a fantastic slot receiver in the future.

The Nittany Lions have extended an offer to three-star tight end Mark Redman. The eighth-ranked tight end in the 2020 class and No. 37 player in California, Redman also has offers from Alabama, Ohio State, Washington, and Michigan.

Penn State is continuing to lay the groundwork for a Florida pipeline, offering Fort Lauderdale native Marlon Martinez. At 6’5/305, the offensive lineman already has great size and will only continue to get stronger. He is currently the 65th ranked offensive tackle in the 2020 class, and a teammate of Nittany Lion commit Derek Wingo.

Defensive tackle Tywone Malone scored a Penn State offer, adding to an impressive list for the 2021 prospect. The New Jersey native has already picked up offers from USC, Michigan, and Texas A&M since the start of the year.

The Nittany Lions have extended an offer to 2021 wide receiver Joshua Burrell. At 6’2/200, the high school sophomore already has fantastic size and has two more years of high school to fill out his frame. Like many 2021 prospects, he currently does not have a ranking in the 247 Composite.

Kumah announces his top six
Virginia Tech grad transfer Eric Kumah has put the Nittany Lions in his top six schools.

Kumah would be a huge get for the Nittany Lions, as they could desperately use some receiver depth after Juwan Johnson and Brandon Polk announced their intentions to transfer. Kumah caught 70 passes for 883 yards and eight touchdowns during his time in Blacksburg, setting career highs in every category last season. He will visit Penn State in April.
Pryor coming to town
2021 running back Evan Pryor will be making the trip up to Happy Valley from North Carolina this weekend. The staff has long been high on the speedy back, offering him in April of last year. He has since been on campus for a camp back in June and again in September for this year’s Whiteout. 247Sports has him as the No. 67 player nationally and the third-ranked running back in his class.
