James Franklin Getting Crushed For What He Did Late vs. Michigan

Penn State head coach James Franklin is facing some serious criticism for his decision making late in the Nittany Lions’ blowout loss to Michigan.

PSU’s offense has struggled – mightily – in this blowout loss to the Wolverines, who are currently leading, 35-0.

The Penn State quarterback situation has been cloudy for most of the second half. Trace McSorley appeared to be benched in favor of Tommy Stevens, who came in and threw a pick-six. McSorley was then put back into the game, only to get removed and checked out for an injury.

Now, with Penn State trailing by 35 points, McSorley appears to be on his way back into the game.

This is puzzling.

“Trace McSorley is coming back into this game. Why, is unclear, with the Lions down 35-0,” Greg Pickel writes.

At this point, the game is out of reach, and keeping McSorley in the game is just wrong.

“Trace McSorley back in the game with PSU down 35-0. Franklin always says no game is out of reach, but…. And McSorley is picked off,” tweeted Audrey Snyder.

Franklin and Penn State will fall to 6-3 on the season with a loss to Michigan today. The Wolverines, meanwhile, are looking like one of the top three or four teams in the country, and will improve to 8-1 on the year.

Michigan and Penn State are currently playing on ESPN. A couple of minutes remain in the contest.
