Julian Fleming is a crucial recruit for Penn State football.
The five-star wide receiver is an in-state prospect, and one of the top players in the entire class of 2020.
247Sports‘ composite rankings have him at No. 5 overall. He’s the top wide receiver, and Pennsylvania recruit in the class.
On Christmas day, Fleming gave a small present to 10 college football programs: a list of the schools in contention for him.
Alabama, Clemson, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State, USC, and Virginia Tech all made the cut.
Penn State is considered the favorite by at least a few recruiting analysts, with 82-percent of 247 crystal ball voters predicting that he will be a Nittany Lion. Ohio State picked up the remaining predictions.
Penn State football added a new wide receivers coach on Thursday, former Duke and Purdue staffer Gerard Parker, which is obviously big news for Julian Fleming.
It is unclear if Parker had the chance to speak with Fleming already, but the five-star receiver plans to meet him soon.
Penn State’s Parker should be among those wasting no time heading out to see the two-time PIAA Class 2A player of the year, and Fleming told PennLive on Thursday that he already has a first impression of James Franklin’s latest hire.
“He’s cool,” Fleming said, “gotta meet him soon.”
Michigan, Ohio State, and USC have also experienced recent staff shake-ups, so Fleming has a lot to weigh here going forward.
Luckily, he is a 2020 recruit, so he has some time to sort through all of these huge options.
