Good evening Bucknuts subscribers! There is plenty going on with Ohio State football recruiting so let’s get started with what I am hearing.
1) 1) Much has been said and written about Ohio State offensive line commitment Doug Nester. The Ohio State staff is working hard to keep Nester in the class as Penn State, Virginia Tech and Georgia recruit him, and Nester plans to make official visits to all three starting with Georgia the weekend of Jan. 12.
While Virginia Tech was Nester’s second choice when he committed to the Buckeyes during the summer of 2017, it is Penn State that is recruiting Nester the hardest among the three schools trying to get the flip.
Some thought after Nester visited Penn State right before the start of the current NCAA dead period he was very, very likely going to flip to the Nittany Lions. But Nester’s commitment and familiarity with the Buckeyes should not be underestimated. Nester has visited Ohio State over 20 times and his parents have been there many times too. Nester also has a good relationship with Ohio State offensive line coach Greg Studrawa and that is in the Buckeyes’ favor. It’s not by any means a done deal Nester signs with Ohio State, but he won’t be an easy flip.
