Noah Cain Was Leaning Towards Texas Before Committing To Penn State Football

After officially landing the four-star running back and receiving his letter of intent, Penn State football coach James Franklin said that Noah Cain had actually committed to the Nittany Lions a few weeks ago.

Fast forward to Wednesday, the start of this year’s early signing period, and Cain was very much unsure of where he wanted to play his college ball.

The IMG Academy product came very close to choosing Texas. So close, in fact, that he said he was leaning towards the Longhorns the morning of his decision.

Noah Cain revealed his near-Texas commitment after eventually signing to play for Penn State football.

From 247Sports:

“I was honestly a Texas lean this morning,” he told 247Sports. “Waking up, I’m going to Texas.”

“I didn’t make my decision until about 9:45 this morning,” he said. “I was actually leaning toward Texas this morning right before my decision.”

Considering this timeline, Cain was ready to reach for a Texas hat in front of a national audience within 30 minutes of his television appearance. But along the way, a notion gnawed at him internally.

“Something kept telling me — God just kept telling me — ‘be different, don’t follow the crowd’,” Cain said.

It is hard to question the decision, especially for a running back. Saquon Barkley has lived up to the significant hype as a rookie in the NFL, and Myles Sanders could potentially leave a year early for the NFL after a strong 2018.

Penn State’s class is ranked No. 10 in the country, with all 18 commits signed right now.
