Ohio State recently saw an impressive amount of elite recruits sign their letters of intent, officially joining the 2019 recruiting class just days ago. However, Ryan Day and the Ohio State Buckeyes coaching staff are not quite done.
With room to add a few more prospects to the class, one of Ohio State’s verbal commits that elected not to sign during the early signing period recently received another accolade.
Four-star offensive guard Doug Nester (Huntington, WV / Spring Valley) was recently named the Coalfields and Co. Review cover player. The cover, which will be released later today will make for a great Christmas present for Nester and his family.
There were many great players to choose from, but we have chosen Doug Nester of Spring Valley to be our 2018 C&C Review Cover Player! Cover will be debuted tomorrow. Happy Christmas Eve!

As was previously mentioned, Nester has been a verbal commit in Ohio State’s 2019 recruiting class since August 2017. However, with the recent news of Urban Meyer’s decision to step away from the head coaching role at Ohio State, Nester decided to not sign during the early signing period. He made this decision because he wants to build a stronger relationship with Ryan Day and ensure the program is still the best place for him.
Nester has visited both Ohio State and Penn State this month, and while the Nittany Lions are viewed as the strongest competitor for the Buckeyes, he is not expected to decommit.
The 6-foot-6.5, 314-pounder is one of the country’s best prospects and is a crucial member of the Buckeyes 2019 class. Securing him alongside five-star OC Harry Miller and four-star OT Ryan Jacoby will provide excellent depth for Ohio State in the trenches.
Nester is viewed as the No. 92 overall prospect in the country, No. 5 at his position and No. 2 in the state of West Virginia. If there was any doubt to his athleticism, just check out the video below of him playing basketball.
