Penn State Hockey Sweeps Big Ten Three Stars

STATE COLLEGE, PA (WTAJ) – Three Penn State Hockey players swept the conference’s “Three Stars” weekly honor Tuesday.

Below is a media release from the Big Ten conference honoring the Nittany Lions:

Penn State Standouts Honored as Three Stars
Penn State’s Myllari earns first star after tallying a pair of assists against Princeton
 
First Star
Kris Myllari, Penn State
D – Jr. – Kanata, Ontario

 
·       Tallied two points in the Nittany Lions’ 4-4 tie with Princeton
·       Was on the ice for the first three Penn State goals of the game and notched a pair of assists, including the primary assist on the first Nittany Lion goal of the game
·       Marked the junior’s third multi-point effort this season and the seventh of his career
·       Earns his first career weekly award
·       Last Penn State First Star honoree: Evan Barratt on Nov. 20, 2018
·       Last Penn State honorees: Evan Barratt (Second Star) and Peyton Jones (Third Star) on Dec. 11, 2018
 
Second Star
Alec Marsh, Penn State

·       Netted a goal in the Nittany Lions’ 4-4 tie with Princeton on Saturday
·       Notched the fourth goal of the game for Penn State, as he intercepted a pass in the defensive zone and skated coast-to-coast, splitting a pair of Tigers for the unassisted tally
·       Has now scored a goal in back-to-back games for just the second time in his career and first since October of his freshman season
·       Claims his second career weekly award and first since Oct. 20, 2015 (Second Star)
·       Last Penn State honorees: Evan Barratt (Second Star) and Peyton Jones (Third Star) on Dec. 11, 2018
 
Third Star
Brandon Biro, Penn State
F – Jr. – Sherwood Park, Alberta

 
·       Found the back of the net in Penn State’s 4-4 tie with Princeton on Saturday
·       Opened the scoring for Penn State with a backhand tucked over the blocker to tie the game just over three minutes after Princeton opened the scoring
·       The Academic All-Big Ten honoree earns his third career weekly award and second of the season
·       Last Penn State honorees: Evan Barratt (Second Star) and Peyton Jones (Third Star) on Dec. 11, 2018
