Penn State offers NFL legacy prospect

Penn State is the latest to offer Argyle (Texas) Liberty Christian Class of 2022 safety Cristian Driver. The Nittany Lions join Michigan, Nevada, Southern Miss, Texas State and Virginia Tech on his offer list. All have offered in the last week.

Driver is the son of former Alcorn State and Green Bay Packers wide receiver Donald Driver, who played in the NFL from 1999-2012. His wide receivers coach in 2005 in Green Bay was current Penn State head coach James Franklin.

The 5-foot-11, 170-pound athlete has 47 tackles and two interceptions on the year as a freshman. He took one of those picks 90 yards for a score. The 6-4 Warriors are still alive in the TAPPS Division I state playoffs and take on San Antonio Central Catholic on Saturday afternoon.

Offers in the Class of 2022 have been few and far between so far for the Nittany Lions. In fact, Driver is just the second high school freshman to pick up a scholarship from the staff, joining New Jersey defensive lineman KJ Miles.

Penn State assistant coach Terry Smith is recruiting Driver for the Nittany Lions.
