Redshirt Burned/Green (8)
According to ESPN’s broadcast during last weekend’s game, Checa suffered an injury during the week and did not play against the Wolverines. Instead, former Penn State Abington soccer player Justin Tobin was the starting kickoff specialist.
The Moose was one again the Nittany Lions best receiver last weekend as he finished the day with three receptions for 51 yards. It’s safe to say that Freiermuth is their best receiving target as we enter the last three weeks of the season.
LB Jesse Luketa
Luketa didn’t record any defensive stats against the Wolverines and saw most of his playing time on special teams.
Parsons once again had a solid week which only strengthened the argument that he should be a starting outside linebacker the rest of the season. Through nine weeks, the Harrisburg native is tied for the lead team in tackles with Jan Johnson.
After a strong week against Iowa, Pinegar only saw the field once against the Wolverines, making his only extra point attempt.
DT PJ Mustipher
Mustipher recorded a single tackle against the Wolverines, pushing his season total to the 10.
RB Ricky Slade
Another week, another Ricky Slade absence in the box score. Slade has just played in one game since his stellar performance against Illinois.
WR Jahan Dotson
Dotson will burn his redshirt this season as James Franklin has mentioned over the past week. Dotson had a quality performance against Michigan including a great catch in the fourth quarter where he had to adjust and come back to make the catch. He finished with 2 receptions for 29 yards.
Yellow (3)
DE Jayson Oweh/DE Nick Tarburton
Perhaps, with the season winding down, we’ll see Oweh and Tarburton over the next few weeks but it wouldn’t be shocking if we didn’t see them at all either.
We may just be on the cusp of seeing Shorter play as James Franklin said this week that Shorter is “on the bubble” of playing at his weekly press conference. The top-ranked wide receiver in last year’s recruiting class has appeared in just one game this season.
Red (4)
Last week, we noted that Walker probably wouldn’t play this season unless the offensive line really began to go downhill. Well, if last week was any indication, the offensive line is going downhill, to say the least. Either way, Walker is going to redshirt this season but I won’t rule him out from playing again at some point.
TE Zack Kuntz
Kuntz is a future star if his high school career was any indication of what’s to come but still had to mature physically coming into the season. With Franklin saying “I think you’re gonna end up seeing some of these guys.” in this week’s press conference, it wouldn’t be shocking to see Kuntz end up playing in a game or two down the stretch.
George has room to play in two more games the rest of the season, we’ll see how the coaching staff decides to use him.
CB Trent Gordon
Gordon is the least likely of the “red” players to see the field again this season.
The Real Reds (7)
These remaining seven players have not seen playing time this season and the chances seem slim-to-none that they will over the next few weeks.
QB Will Levis
OG Bryce Effner
