Per a release from the program, senior F/C Satchel Pierce has withdrawn from the University and will no longer be a part of the Penn State basketball team.
A seven footer, Pierce sat out the 2016-17 season due to transfer rules after coming over from Virginia Tech, before averaging 1.6 points and rebounds per game during the 2017-18 season. He was deemed academically ineligible for the first semester of the current season and did not appear in a game.
In some lighter hoops news, walk-on guard Kyle McCloskley has been declared eligible for the Nittany Lions, starting with this afternoon’s game against NC State. McCloskey, who was a quarterback on the Villanova football team last season, will have all four years of eligibility remaining due to his change in sports. It’s unknown if he will work into an already crowded backcourt rotation or if the staff will opt to redshirt him.
