Shocker. We had a feeling in the preseason it’d be Clemson or Alabama to don the crown as college football’s national champion. We didn’t know it’d be a blowout — and certainly not a Clemson blowout, a 44-16 Tigers win in Santa Clara, California.
We might not be in store for anything different in 2019. Alabama and Clemson aren’t going anywhere. The only two teams to reach the last four College Football Playoffs again sit No. 1 and 2 in 247Sports’ way-too-early Top 25, and there’s little sign of either program slowing.
But there are teams on the rise. Be it Texas, Florida or LSU, a new group of challengers is set to emerge in 2019. There are some familiar faces, too (Ohio State, Georgia, Oklahoma). How do all of those teams stack up?
